DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING PROGRAM

THE PHARMACY IBM (SCIENCE FOR COMMUNITY) TEAM OF UNIVERSITAS AHMAD DAHLAN CONDUCTED DRUG AND ADDITIVE ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Yogyakarta cooperated with the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education re-implemented community service programs in the form of Science for Community (IbM). It is to improve the community’s understanding of advanced science and technologies. One of the programs was the Training for Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention for SMA Muhammadiyah 2 and Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta students and teachers. The event was held on Tuesday (25/7), presenting a speaker from the National Board Regional Office of Yogyakarta Province (BNNP DIY). The event was a part of the IbM program series of Swamedikasi Teman Sebaya (Peer Self-Medication), which was held for seven months

The event began with a welcome speech from the Community Service Institution (LPM) UAD, continued by the delivery of the first session by the Head of Community Empowerment (Dayamas) and Prevention of BNNP (Narcotics Board Regional Office) of DIY, Mr. Bambang Wiryanto. The topic was about the danger of narcotics and alcohol. A QnA session from enthusiastic participants ended this session. The second session was delivered by UAD alumnus Mr. Gatot Sugiharto, S.H., M.H. The material was interesting, and it concerned persuasive communication. During this session, he skillfully explained how to effectively communicate with friends, other people, and drug users. The third session was delivered by Mr. Herry Santoso, discussing the counseling techniques to drug users who are high school students and peers. The event was concluded by a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) by the Pharmacy of UAD’s IbM team led by Mrs. Wahyu Widyaningsih and Mrs. Iis Wahyuningsih. (ii)
