The Pharmaceutical Chemistry Laboratory manages two laboratory units, namely:

  1. Analytical Chemistry Laboratory
  2. Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry Laboratory

Pharmaceutical Chemistry Laboratory is a place to conduct practicums and/ or research activities for undergraduate, profession, post-graduate students and other researchers. The laboratory is supported by the following facilities and infrastructure: lecturer room, practicum room, laboratory room, weighing room, tool and material room, and instrument room.

Some of the practicum materials at the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Laboratory that focus on developing skills are: Basic Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Instrument Analysis and Drug, Food and Cosmetics Analysis.

Apart from being used for practicum activities, the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Laboratory is also used for research purposes, such as: the determination of flavonoid levels, the determination of total polyphenol levels, active substance screening, standardization of extracts from natural ingredients, the testing of antioxidant activity and the mechanism of active substances from natural ingredients, the development of analytical methods, the analysis contaminants in food and cosmetic samples, organic synthetics, and others.

Some of the tools available at the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Laboratory are:

  1. High Performance Liquid Chromatography (Shimadzu), which has been used to analyze various samples, such as Caffeine, Paracetamol, Salicylic Acid, Benzoic Acid, Vitamin B1, Amoxicillin, OMS, and others
  2. UV-Visible spectrophotometer (Shimadzu, Pharmaspec UV-1700), which has been used to analyze various samples, such as antioxidant test (DPPH, FRAP method), Total Flavonoid (Routine equivalent, Quercetin equivalent), Caffeine, Benzoic acid, Formalin, Vitamin E, Paracetamol, Hydroquinone, Nitrite, Aspartame, Saccharin, and others
  3. Fluorescence Spectrofluorometer (Shimadzu, RF-5301PC), which has been used to analyze various samples, such as Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, Kinin Sulfate, Salicylic Acid, Vitamin B1, Furosemide, and others
  4. Densitometer (CAMAG, TLC Scanner 3), which has been used to analyze various samples, such as Curcumin, Caffeine, Routine, Quercetin, Rhodamine, Saccharin, Aspartame, Paracetamol, OMS, MSG, Andrographolide, and others
  5. Tools to manufacture extracts from natural ingredients, such as: electric stirrer, magnetic stirrer, evaporator, and water bath
  6. Microscope and other equipment
