Pharmacy Faculty Visit to Otago, New Zealand
Otago- On Monday (02/07/2018), the Pharmacy Faculty of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan visited the School of Medicine, Otago University. In this visit, the Pharmacy Faculty of UAD was represented by Dr. drh. Sapto Yuliani, M.P and Dr. Nurkhasanah, M.Si., Apt. Both lecturers were welcomed by representatives of the School of Medicine, Otago University, i.e., Margreet Visser (Associate Dean), Vicky Cameron, Simran Maggo, Martin Kennedy, Kenny Chitcholtan, and Gabi Dach. The visit began with the introduction and brief profile presentation from both institutions, i.e., UAD and Otago University. The event also discussed potential cooperation between the two institutions. Besides, they also planned for research collaboration. The representatives of Otago University stated that they welcome collaboration in research. One of the offered programs is the Post-doctoral program for Uad Pharmacy Faculty lecturers to conduct research in Otago with a fund-sharing system.
The visit by Dr. Sapto and Dr. Nurkhasanah in Otago was continued on Tuesday (03/07/2018) by the Ph.D. seminar. In the event, Dr. Sapto delivered a topic of “Neuroprotective Effect of Turmeric (Curcuma longa L) on Dementia Model Rat.” Meanwhile, Dr. Nurkhasanah presented a material entitled “Chemopreventive Effect of Eurycoma longifolia Jack.”
The visit series to Otago was followed by a visit to the School of Pharmacy, Dunedin. In this visit, Dr. Sapto and Dr. Nurkhasanah met the staff, e.g., Joey Tyndall (Associate Dean), Natalie Medlicott, and Dr. Arlene McDowell. The visit discussed the potential collaboration and higher studies for the UAD Pharmacy Faculty lecturers. Dr. Nurkhasanah and Dr. Sapto were also allowed to observe the laboratories in Dunedin. (DV)
